Parks & Recreation Commission

The Parks and Recreation Commission consists of 5 members appointed to staggered, 4-year terms. Commissioners are appointed by the City Council. 

The Parks and Recreation Commission meets at 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month in the Banning City Hall Council Chambers. The Commission is dark (no regular meetings) the months of July, August and December.

The Commission functions in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters relating to the City’s existing parks, future parks, and recreation programs and services.

Parks and Recreation Commission Vacancy

The City of Banning is accepting applications to fill one immediate vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission. The term of office would begin upon appointment and run through January 2027. 

This is a volunteer position on a Commission that meets on the third Wednesday of each month, beginning at 6:00 P.M. You must be a registered voter in the City of Banning to qualify.  All applicants must successfully complete a background investigation with fingerprinting before appointment. 

The deadline to submit your application to the City Clerk’s Office is Monday, November 17, 2025 at 5:00 P.M. Submit to the City Clerk’s Office, PO Box 998, Banning, CA 92220 or by emailing your signed application to cityclerks@banningca.gov.
