Do-It-Yourself oil changers replace an estimated 50% of the U.S annual 300 million gallons of motor oil. A quarter of this 150 million gallon equal 37.5 million gallons of oil that can be recycled or reused. However if just 1 gallon of the remaining 112.5 million gallons is disposed of incorrectly it can contaminate 1 million gallons of drinking water.
